WASTE LAND BOARD.
The weekly meeting of the Board was held yesterday afternoon; present—The Chief Commissioner, Meßsr3 Bastings, Reid, ami Clark. Mr Edward Jones requested to be allowed to abandon section 1.1, block 2, taken up by him under the deferred payment system. Board cannot refund d*po<it. Abandonmeut to be accepted. The advice of the District Land Officer was rea 1 on the application of W. E. Griffin for a small piece ot re3trved land adjoining section 1, block 2, Highlay district. Refused. Mr D. H. Mervvn applied to purchase fifty acres in block 1, Tevio' district, at LI per acre, in terras of the 36th and 37ih sections of the Otago Waste Lands Act, 1872. ' o power ; the land not being in a position to be dealt with.
Mr G. F. 0. Browne forwarded objections to application 682 d, by H. L. Squires, for s;cti n 47, block 10, Waitahuna J<last,» and to application 683 d, section 43, block 10 Waitahuna East, by B. Herbert and a! M'Kinlay, being granted. The District Land ffFecr at Qtieenstowr asked for instructions as to how he .-ho>l< deal with deposits received on deferred payment applications. Referred to the Government.
