OUR ARROW LETTER.

Arrow, July 7. The annual meeting of tho District Miners’ Association was held on Saturday evening last. Mr John A. Miller was re-elected L'resident. Mr Mandcrs, M.P.C., was present, and was warmly received. At his suggestion it was resolved, “That in the event of the Gold Duty Rebate Ordinance being disallowed, efforts be made to have a sum equal in amount to the gold duty expended on tho goldfields for prospecting. In reference to the Crown Terrace it was decided to make a firm stand against the alienation of any portion of it, except on terms of free entry for mining purposes without limit to time. A vote of thanks and confidence in Messrs Manders and Hallenstein for their exertions in tho Council was carried ; also one of thanks to and confidence in the Central Committee at Nnscby. Owing to the breaking of the turbine shaft, the Arrow United Company have stopped operations for the winter, as they propose to turn their attention to cutting off the surface water, which at present, by soaking through the ground, gives the pumps too much work. An expenditure of LSO or L 69 in a flood race will, it is hoped, reduce the bottom water to such an extent as to enable the sinking of the shaft to be proceeded with when they make another start. The Crown Terrace Quartz Mining Company have commenced operations.
