TETANUS.
To the Editor. Sir,—T was sorry to sec that another case of lockjaw has occurred. This makes the fnurih fatal case in Dunedin, .now, as many think it is incurable, I deem it my duty to make known the following cvne given bv Dr loffin in his “ Botanic Guide to Health” Ist. Prepare a vapour bath by putting two bricks in a flic. 2nd, Give a teaspoonfnl of cavenne pepper in a cupful of hot water sweetened, strip the patient, seat him on a cane-bottomed chair, put a basin of boiling water underneath, into which put one of the hot biicks. and keep a blanket round the neck and chair so as to prevent the st-am from escaping; keep up as much steam as can be borne for fifteen to twenty minutes, when the muscles of the jaw will relax ; mb down, put, to bed, and keep up perspira-ion for a few hours by putting a hot brick to the feet wrapped in a c'oth wet with vinegar. This simple treatment has never been known to fail. I have a friend who cured, on the same principle, a man now in Dunedin, 'the above treatment was tested in the presence of an allopathic doctor, who declared himself astonished at i* s wonderful result and promised to use similar means in any future cases he might have.—lam, 4c., - Botanist. Caversham, July 8.
