Wellington, for Lyttelton, July 9, The s.s. Torarua arrived alongside the railway pier at eight this morning. She cleared Port Phillip Hoads at 3,30-p.m. on the 26th of Juno, and experienced fine weather until passing Swan Island, when she encountered a strong S.E. gale, with tremendous head sea and thick weather, during which she was hove-to for 48 hours. The gale moderated on the Ist instant, and from that date until sighting the land at 6 a.m. on the 3rd had strong S.E; winds ; passed Stewart’s Group at 5.80 p.m., and arrived at the Bluff at 8 30 p.m.
