Mr Gerrard had been summoned by the police for net sweeping the footpath opposite to his premises. He pleaded he could not keep the footpath clean owing to mud being allowed to accumulate on the road. He was fined LI, and then he proceeded against the Corporation, with the result mentioned.” Mayors and members of Corporations will please accept this intimation, for there's nothing like precedent in law.—l am, &c., Mdck-Shiftes.
