Wednesday, June 28. (Before T. A Hansford, Esq., R.M.)

Drunkenness. —George Smith was fined ss, ortwenty-four hours’hard labor; John Thomas, it being his second offence, 10s, or forty-eight hours.

An Unruly Boy. —Thomas Gardiner, a boy, was charged, upon the information of Sergeant Niel, with wilfully trying to destroy a gas lamp at Cricktnore’s Assembly-rooms last evening. He pleaded not guilty. From the evidence of Sergeant Niel, it appeared that the accused aud a number of other boys were congregated round the assembly-rooms to the annoyance of persons passing. Witness saw the accused throwing up hia cap to put the out, but as soon as he saw witness he ran away; He was a very bad boy and an associate df the notorious Gately. In defence accused stated that he was only trying to throw his cap' on to the top of the lamp.—His Worship informed him that if there had been any damage done he would have sent him to gaol, and that if he was again brought before him he would send him to the training ship. He was discharged with a severe reprimand.
