BRANCH RAILWAYS.
In the Provincial Council, this afternoon, two messages from the Superintendent (Nos. 17 and 18) were received. In the fii st message his Honor submitted for the consideration of the Council the expediency of enabling the Government to proceed with the construction out of revenue or loan of the following line : Lawrence to Teviot (first section—Lawrence to Beaumont), L 60,000. In the second message, his Honor submitted for consideration the expediency of the Government being _ authorised to proceed during the recess with the surveys in detail of the following lines :
