RESIDENT MAGISTRATE’S COURT, PORT CHALMERS.
(Before T. A. Mansferd, Esq. R.M.) Monday, Mat 31. Drunkenness. —John Mitchell, for being drunk and disorderly on the old jetty on Saturday night, was ordered to pay a fine of 10s. °r twenty-four hours* imprisonment. Embezzlement. —John*Brown, seaman,!belonging to the ship Leucadia, who was remanded onj Saturday on a charge of one case of brandy, of the value of L 3, part of the ship’s cargo, was again brought up. After hearing the evidence of H. Crowther, Custom-house officer, accused was ordered to be imprisoned, with hard labor, for si* weeks, and to forfeit the sum of 25s from his wages.
