The Ballarat School of Mines continues to attract pupils, if it fails to gain pecuniary support from those who can best, and should >e the readiest to afford it. The number of pupils who have joined the classes for the present term is larger than on any previous occasion.
The ' vVaJhalla Chronicle ’ is responsible for the following statement: —“A Grass Widows’ Association has been established at Wood’s Poii.-* - , for the purpose of protecting those of the fair sex who have been deserted by their worst halves, and the cooperation of deserted sisters is earn stly asked for. As we know of several in our own district, we expect to see them sympathise and take an active par: in the movement. *
