THE HIGH SCHOOL.

To the Editor.

Sib, — I wish to ask you whether Mr Fish did not make a slight mistake the other night in saying that the cost of the H’gh School is L 5,000 per annum ? I find a certain amount of difficulty in believing that Mr Fish made such a statement, and think the L 5,000 of the newspaper reports must be a misprint for L 1,5000. That gentleman is so cautious and so careful to keep within bounds in dealing with financial questions—witness his estimate of L 14.000 for widening Princes street—that it seems to me almost certain that the newspaper reports must be incorrect.—l am, Ac.. Geobqe Samuel Trounce. Dunedin, May 20.
