The programme was a varied one, comprising, glees, choruses, songs, and instrumental 1 selections The concerted music was very well rendered, giving evidence of careful training on the part of Mr Monish, the condnetor. One of the part songs was encored, and Mr Morrish was several.times, during the evening to the front to acknowledge the warm applause 'with which the music was received by the audieties Several of the songs were Very well sung, and the instrumental selection from “ Martha/' under the leadership of 'lr S. Little, went, very . well. We mast not omit to mention the pianoforte polo by Mrs MedlandNewsham. The performance of this lady was marked by much taste and brilliance, and received a hearty and wellmerited encore. Mrs Newsham has, we believe, only recently arrived in Dunedin, and will be found a valuable acquisition to our musical entertainments This first appearance in public of the Dunedin Harmonic Society gives promise of pleasant evenings yet to come.

The address which the Provincial Council this morning presented to the Marquis of Normanby was a beautiful specimen of the engrosser's art, and -reflected much credit on Mr W eston, who executed it.
The prospectus of the Working MenVCflub appears in our advertising columns. The premises the Club has secured are most central, and, under the management offon efficient committee, we see no reason why it should not become one of the most successful institutions of the kind in Dunedin. The movement has our hearty wishes for its success.
