At the first day’s races yesterday the Weather was good and the attendance was large ; bn > the sport was not nearly ao good as at previous meetings, when the events were better contested. The Hurdle Race lay between Tommy Dodd and Ivanhoe, but there was not from the first a doubt but that the former would pull it off. The Maiden Plato was well contested, but the Cup was a moral for Castaway. Hdbdlb Race L4O j two miles; over eight flights of hurdles ; welter weights for age. Mr P. Campbell's Tommy Dodd, X2st lib... 1 Mr F. Hedge’s Ivanhoe, X2st lib ... 2 Alice Grey and Medora were scratched, Ivanhoe baulked at the sixth hurdle, and Tommy Dodd won as he liked. Barrett’s Mignonette ... ... ... 3 Golden Grapes, Flora MTvor, and Highland Lassie als6 ran. The last mentioned threw her nder before the start. Flora MTvor, after leading nearly half the distance, gave place to Waverly, who in the straight was headed by Nectar, the latter winning by a length. Time, 2mm. 49seo.

It is stated that Mr R. H. Campbell has been offered LI,OOO for Castaway, in victoria, the object being to.put him to the stud.
