Friday, April 30. (Before J. Bathgate, Esq,, 8.M.) Judgment went by default in the following cases D. Sampson v. G. Thomson, claim L 3 4s 6d, for clothes supplied; Meenan v. J. Baton, LI 15s Id, for groceries. Wadsworth v. BrantanL—Claim LI 15s Bd, for milk supplied. This was a judgment summons, and defendant was ordered to pay the amount in weekly instalments of 2s 6d. Brown and Johnson v, Tattersfield.—Claim L 5 3s, a judgment summons. Defendant pleaded that he had filed a declaration of insolvency three days before the summons was served on him.—Plaintiff said that before the first summons was issued, defendant had said he would see witness before he would pay him.—The case was adjourned for a week, to enable defendant to bring up a statement of his affairs at the time of, and since contracting the debt—his Worship saying that if it was not satisfactory he would send defendant at once to gaol, perhaps for the full term allowed by law. Fraser v, Waldy.—Claim Lls, for the wrongful taking and conversion of three head of cattle, the property of plaintiff. Mr A. Bathgate appeared for plaintiff, and Mr Haargitt for defendant, who denied the first part of the charge, and also said that the cattle were not plaintiff’s.—A large number of witnesses were examined. [Left sitting.]
