Sib, -In reply to “ Common Sense ” I must inform him that he is m error. 1 said nothing a b° u t giving a testimonial I simply said in effect that merit gained by arduous labor and honesty in the public service, however humble was deserving of recognition, take what shape lt W- Common Sense ’is a man of tbe world, and believes that “through humble clothes small vices will appear, when robes and furred gowns hide all.” As far as his being amused at my reference to a letter, carrier need I infer that small things please little minds.— I am, ®c., Dunedin, April 29, GBIF *
