WASTE LAND BOARD.
The weekly meeting of the Board tras held this day ; present—the Chief Commissioner, Messrs Bastings, Butterworth, Clark, and Reid.
Mr R. Cameron asked to relinquish and obtain refund of deposit on his land, successfully balloted for at Invercargill and Dunedin. Deposit returned on the desired sections, Mr Cameron retaining the ffiiefe section allotted to him by the ballot. A discussion ensued as to the right of a plural, ist to do as Mr Cameron h*a done, and as to whether a pluralist could take his choice of any number of lots allotted to him. It was decided to obtain the Provincial Solicitor’s opinion. . lS - Worthington, provisional trustee in bankruptcy, asked to withdraw appliestmn 362 o for exchange of agricultural lease, bet erred to Provincial Solicitor for advice. The Lawrence D. L, 0. asked'instructions as to charging valuation for improvements on laud applied for there on deferred payments. No legal.power to do so. Mr J. Neill, secretary to the Macraes Progress Committee, asked that an officer pay monthly visits to the Fiat to receive applications for land. The D. L. O. to be so instructed.
The Invercargill D. L. 0. wrote as to Mr Vv. letter, stating that section 14, block 10, Waikaka, had been taken on do* ferred payments, in opposition to terras of .the 4 ct, and that Mr Templeton, the successful balloter for the section, had behaved- in a very suspicious manner ih applying for it, Mr Templeton also wrote with reference to the affair. The letters were read. Mr T. Payletioh applied for a license to occupy section 53, block 4, North-Bast Harbor and Blueskin, a long beach reserve, with leave to erect a jetty , opposite the same, for the purposes of a piggery and fish-smoking establishment. Granted under clause 161 Mr IX Hallenstein tendered his resignation as a member of the Board of Inquiry: at Queenstown. Accepted. Mr J. Heany complained of seotioa 4, and Pillar, taken by-kunaa 1874, being still unsurveyed, and asked redress. Mackerras tendered p'an of survey of slate quarry area on ran 117, Kauroo. Government to be recommended to withdraw this section from the run. Mr J, Corbett asked that iwe acres mav be added to bis application for coal mine at Cardrona. Referred to the Land Officer for ad'ice. The Board considered the form of dec’ar ation by applicants nnder clause 54, subclause 6, of the Act of 1872, to be signed before a Justice of the Peace previous to the issne of license or tease Referred to the Provincial Solicitor for advice.
