POLICE PROTECTION.
To the JSdilor.
ro“*r’ I , think residents of the upper Part of Stafford street are entitled to more poHoe protection than they get at present Last night inhabitants of Stafford and Mel villa streets were disturbed with cries of murder, and, on proceeding to ascertain the cause, found two men with sticks beating an unfortunate fellow on the vround. Surely, sir, such an occurrence abound not be possible without the police appearing on the eoene. which, to my knowledge, did not do. eloping some steps may be taken to prevent Melville street gaining such an unenviable notonety for breaches of the j peace.—l am. &0..
