NOTICES OF BOOKS.

London Journal and Bow Bells : London Journal Office, J. Dicks; Joseph Braith waite, High street, Dunedin.

“Mary Ki van hall's Prophecy,” “A Mad Marriage,” and numbers of other tales are continued this mouth in the ‘London Journal ’; and a new story entitled “ Cupid’s 1 urse” is c mmeuced. From the little we have seen of it, it is about as improbable ami sensational a tale ss ever was written ; but perhaps, on this account, may prove the more interesting to some people. One or two articles on the Bank of Kngland, and other subjects of public interest, are much better worth reading. The ladies’ supplement, and colored fashion plate are quite up to the usual mark.

‘ Bow Bells ’ has several new stories ; and some of those commenced in former numbers are concluded this month. An interesting notice of the celeorated actress. Mrs Orger, is well worth glancing at, as well as “The History and Tiaditison of Old English Towns,” by George Wall The patterns for needle and fancy work are numerous and g'od. They will, doubtless, be found useful and acceptable to lady subscribers.
