FUNERAL OF JUDGE GRAY.
The service at the grave yesterday was read by the Rev. R. L. Stanford, and among the clergy present, in addition to those mentioned by us yesterday, were his Lordship Dr Moran and his Vicar-General (the Rev. Father Coleman), the Rev. Dr Copland, the Rev. E. H. Grainger, the Rev. Mr Penny, the Rev. Mr Gow, and the Rev. Mr Ryley. Bishop Nevil was prevented from attending. It appears that the police applied to be permitted to carry the coffin from the hearse, when it reached the cemetery gbtes, to the grave ; but there were co many applicants for the service that the request could not be complied with, and they were allowed to be represented by two of their numbers. Sergeants Hanlon and Morkane. Mr Ai J. Willis attended as Goldfields Warden of the Dnnedin district; and there were represented by proxy The Dunedin Hebrew congregation by its president (Mr B. Isaac); Warden Wood (Switaers), the Mayor of Lawrence by Mr H. Bastings, and the Mayor of Queenstown by Mr B. Hallenatein, M.P.O. At the grave, the nail-bearers were His Honor the Superintendent, Chief Justice Prendergast, Sir J. L. C. Richardson, Speaker of the Legislative Council; the Hon. Major Atkinson, Minister of Immigration; Mr J. L. Gillies, Speaker of the Provincial Council; his Worship the Mayor, Mr H. S. Chapman (late Judge), Mr J. Bathgate (District Judge). Mr J. P. Maitland, R.M., Mr T, A. Hansford. R.M.. Mr Vincent Pyke, M.H.E., and Mr Warden Carew. In the list of City Councillors, who attended the funeral, should have been included the names of Messrs Walter and Mercer.
