CITY POLICE COURT.
Tuesday, March 17. (Before Messrs A. Mercer and T. Birch, Esqs., J.P.’s)
Drunkenness. —George Romeo for thin offence was fined ss, with the alternative of twenty-four hours’ imprisonment. Vagrancy. —Elizabeth Attiwell, who only came out of gaol a few days ago, was charged with having no lawful means of support.— Constable Moore said that at about ten o’clock last night he saw prisoner accost three men, and uso abusive language to a man who she followed. Witness cautioned prisoner and afterwards saw her accost other men. When taken iu charge she said she had no place to go to and no means of living. Prisoner was well known to the police,—The Bench sentenced her to three months’ imprisonment with hard labor.—lnspector Mallard stated that the whole family was supported by the Government. The man and wife were in gaol, and the children in the_ Industrial School.--Mr Mercer: They are a nice sort of immigrants to come out here. Remanded Charge, —The charge against Mary Anne Palmer was further adjourned till next day, prisoner to be admitted to bail in the meantime in her own recognisance.
