MR ROBERTS’S MEETING.

To the Editor. Sib,—The meeting at the Green Island drillshed last evening was presided over by a chairman elected by nine-tenths ,of those present, who happened to be all residents of Green Island, and manifested a particular desire to exclude all others from participating in the meetiug or interrogating Mr Roberts. The rote of thanks to Mr Roberts, and resolution requesting him to represent the district, though proposed and seconded, were never put to the meeting. Mr Roberts, like many others, has done some good, but the greatest amount nearest home, which would require telescopic faith to imagine. He has grown weary of the State difficulties he is compelled to surmount, and, consequently, will leave our frail barque to the guidance of some one else, but still be its commander. We thank him kindly for the good he has done, but don’t wish to be left to chance for our representative. We require an infusion of new blood. We, the residents of the Knikorai Valley, would like exceedingly Mr Roberts to favor us with a meeting in the Valley.—l am, &c., George Miller. [This lettpr is also signed by James Dowdey, William Bigger, George Pufflett, Thomas Carrodus, W. M‘Meckan, David Thompson, John M‘Donald, and Charles Darlinson.l Dunedin, March 11.
