WASTE LAND BOARD.
The weekly meeting of the Board was held this morning; present —The Chief Commissioner, Messrs Bastings, Butterworth, Clark, Reid, and Strode. Mr Connell, for Messrs Guthrie and Larnach, applied for a lease of 160 acre- 1 , block 3, Woodlands, and to lay a tramway to previous application. Granted, on the necessary conditions being fulfilled, and that no timber be out until the boundaries are marked off, The District Engineer reported on section 54, block 4, Otakia, applied for by Mr John Robertson. Reserve to continue. Mr W. Hooper, for Mr J. Charlton, applied for a lease of a coal bed near Cromwell. Report of District land Officer to ba obtained, with reference to Daga’s work mg i f the same. The Clyde District Land < ffi.er reported oa Mr J. Hall’s request to have his rent for coal lease reduced fromLlO to Ls* per annum. Granted. n Mr A - Ay sou applied to purchase section -7, block 2, Warepa, and a small strip adjoining, to complete his property. Hanger to report on the state of the land. t Mr W. G. King asked what inducement tne Government holds out to anyone to settle at Martin’s Bay. Referred to Government The Switzers District Land Officer advised that pre-emptive right on run 328 should bo granted Messrs btewart and Gow, as laid off by the surve; or. Granted. Mr B, Balmor, for Mr B. Williams, applied for a twenty-one years’ lease of part of land temporarily reserved for acclimatisation purposes, offering 15s per acre per annum. Referred to the Oamaru Corporation. The Queenstown District Land Offi er advised that Mr Theodore Baker’s application for land be forwarded to the Ranger for report. Agreed to, and noted that bangers be requested to furnish all assistance in their power to District Land Officers. The Chairman of Wardens of Tois Tois Hundred forwarded a return of expenditure and receipts for the year, and asked repayment of license fees collected there dirint; 1873. Read. Government recommended that tho following sections be declared land ©f special value and sold by auction on April 1, under clause 85 o',, the Act, the laud being of superior quality and improved by survey, fencing, •i c; also that compensation be paid the runholder, and the upset prices to be as hero Stated Section 2, block 4, Waikaia, L 424 ; section 3, do. do., L 306 2s; section 16, do do., LI6S I2s. Also that sections 10, 13, a . same block, be open for ap plication, in terms of section 35, after April I. Approved. Government recommended the extension of tho date for the sale of land in Waikaka Hundred to March 10. Approved. Mr Macassey asked that the sale of Waikotkoe be postponed, pending the decision in Mr Logau s appeal to the w upremo Court. Read. Mr Stout forwarded a memo, with reoreuce to the appointment of arbiters re Sir F. Bell’s block, Dunback. Mr ,1. B. Brad shaw was appointed by tbe Board. Mr Connell asked that Mr Walter Miller, juu., be declaied the purchaser of sections 28, block 4, sections 36 and 37, block 4, and section 21, block 6, Waitahuna Referred to the Government, with.a view of survey heion obtained. J & A letter was read from the Superintendent relative to the surveying of blocks suitable for immigrants under the Act of 1872, The subject was recommended to the favorable consideration of the Government, with the view of giving practical effect to the Act.
