CRICKET.
Two matches wore played on the Oval on Saturday. On the D.C.C.’s ground the Cup match, Merchants and Agents v. The World, was continued, and resulted in the former winning by 39 runs. The scores in cadi innin.es and -Agents, 07 and 134 ; The "World, 73 and 117. .For the Merchants in their second innings, Macfarlan made 17, F. Fulton 30, and Rose 44; and for The World, Sampson 20, raramor 33, and Fagan 24, The Citizens’ Club, which everybody thought defunct, showed a slight sign of returning vitality, and Messrs Shepherd and F. M. Coxhead, with the assistance of some gentlemen in the hardware line, were enabled to get up sides and play a oncmnings’ match, which resulted in favor of Shepherd’s side by 46 runs. The Match Committee of the D.O.C. lias chosen the following players to practise fo>- the match with South Canterbu; v, to take place in Dunedin on or about the 19th and 20:h March: ~Ai len v,, Colliugol h Clark,' Fulton, J. C., Gonby, Glen, Fenwick, Kettle 0., Macfarlan, Marshall, Pnramor, Readc, Rhodes H,, Sampson, Tait, and Thomson J. C.
