CHILD MURDER AT TOKOMAIRIRO.

(From our own Correspondent.) _ Tokomairtro, Tabinary 22. The police at Tokomairivo received information on Saturday evening that points to a case of child murder. Margaret Collins is the in.mc of a servant girl who arrived in the Colony from England about a year ago, and during tiro past ten weeks has been in service at Goo-.lall’s Hotel, Milton, but was previously employed at Lewis’s Royal Oak Hotel. Lately her fellowservants noticed and made remarks on her appearance. On Saturday she spent the greatci part of the day in her room, but came down stairs in the evening and waited at table at tea time. The fellow-servant who slept in the same room then noticed an alteration in her appearance, went up stairs and searched the rocm, and in consequence of what she saw there sent for a neighbor-, a midwife named Pettigrene. The latter sent for the police, who came with Dr. Stewart, and under the mattra-s of Collins’s bed was found the body of a fullgrown female child, evidently recently born. The child bad an incised wound in its throat. A pair of scissors, the only weapon in the room, was found under the toilet cover. Collins, who has been ill and delirious ever since, is now in Good all's Hotel, under the charge of the police and the care of the matron of the barracks. Mr Carew, the District Coroner, had been teleto Lawrence, and will hold an inquest this evening or to-morrow.
