Mr Mercer reports (retail prices only) for the week ending February 12 :—Fresh butterin half and 1 lb prints, Is 2d to Is 4d per lb; fresh butter, in lumps, Is 2d per lb ; powdered and salt butter, Is 2d to Is 3d per lb. The market is staU well supplied with fresh butter, although the supply has fallen off this last Week, and a slight advance in the price has taken pkce. Prime salt butter, in keg. Is Id per lb, but no demand. Cheese cf the best quality is more plentiful at lOd to Is per lb; side and rolled bacon in good demand at Is Id to Is 2d per lb; Colonial hams, Is 4d per lb ; English hams, Is 6d per lb. Eggs are very scarce, and in good demand at 2s per dozen: potatoes, 8s per cwt.
