Thursday, February 4. (Before T. A. Hansford, Esq., R.M.) »Ship Desertion. —George Ramsay, charged by Captain Stevens, of the ship Auckland, with deserting from that vessel on the 13th of December, pleaded guilty.—Sergeant Neil deposed th it he arrested the accused on board of the schooner Bencleuch, where ho had been working for seven weeks at L 3 per month, there was L 4 15s due to him, and as Captain Stevens was willing to take him on board again witness asked his Worship for an order for bis wages.—His "Worship said a formal application in respect to the wages would have to be made by the accused, and also remarked that, having consulted with Captain Stevens, he had resolved, in order to administer some punishment without degrading the man with the hard labor gang, to remand him for one week, when he would be again brought up and ordered on board his ship. Embezzl'ng Ship’s Stores.— Charles Mann, second steward of the ship Waikato, charged by Captain Hoddev with embezzling ship's stores, to wit, one ham, or the value of 15s, was remanded until Saturday on account of other parties being implicated.
