TO-DAY’S FIRING.

The firing commenced to-day. The weather was dull and overcast. The first match was Judging Distance (for Cavalry).—Distance, 500 yards. Other conditions similar to infantry judging distance match. Seven Shots in the whole to be fired by each competitor, who will judge his own distance. Targets 6 x 6ft; centre 4ft square ; bull’s eye 2ft square. Ties to be fired off shot for shot at such distances as may be appointed by the officer in command. First prize, L 7 ; second, L 6 ; third, L 5; fourth, L 4; fifth, L 3 ; sixth, L2.
