WASTE LAND BOARD.

The weekly meeting of the Board was held to-day ; present—The Chief Commissioner, Messrs Butterworth, Clark, and Reid. Mr T, Ross asked to have refunded the amount of deposit lodged on application, 548 d, sections 44 and 49, block 5, Waitahuna Bast. Refused. Messrs Cargill and M‘Lean, for Mr H. Campbell, applied to purchase pre-emptive rignt on run 239. io be referred to the District 1 and Officer. Land to be in a square form, according to regulations. Messrs Connell and Moodie, for Mr John M‘Farlane, applied to lease 2 acres for a mill site on block 13, Glenkenich, with permission to lay down a tramway. To form part of license already issued to same applicants. Ranger Valpy reported on the application of Mr A. M‘Master, to purchase 20 acres of bush reserve, section 59, block 8, Dunedin and East Taieri. Sale refused. Reconsideration of Mr Matthew Dwyer’s application for sections 122, 123, block 1 ; and 45 to 51 and 60, block 2 ; and 11, block 21, Sbotover, which was referred to the District Land Officer for advice. Sale approved. Mr H. Manders ap died for a jetty site at dees, near the Queenstone Jetty—area required being 100 feet by 100 feet from low water level. Referred to the local Corporation for advice. Messrs G. fl, Smith and Co. asked three weeks’ extension of time to .emove timber already cut at Wakatipu bush. Applicants to be asked why they do not take out a license, according to the regulations. Mr Donald Malloch, for the East Hawksbury Committee of Management, asked the Hoard to limit the area under license lately applied for by the Corporation of West tiawkshury, and recommending that it should extend from the lower part of the lagoon to the large drain cut on the west side of the road lately made by the inhabitants across the lagoon. Notice to be given to both parties that the case will be considered at the Board’s next meeting. Messrs Ho worth and Hodgkins asked that a settlement might be come to in the case of ’Kme v. the Board, in which the verdict was in favor of O’Kane getting certain laud. ihe Chief Commissioner said O’Kane had never applied for the laud, and it was decided that he be written to, to ask what action he intends to take. Government was recommended to pay present applicants’ costs. Mr Joseph Jones applied to purchase five acres of bush reserve section 59, block 8, Dunedin and East Taieri. Refused. Mr William Morgan applied for renewal of his license for quarry reserve, block 4, Uamaru. Three mouths’ renewal grauted. Messrs Webb and Fulton, for Mr John Craig, applied to occupy a water reserve, adjoining section 191, block 2, Papakaio. Referred to the Hanger,
