A J.P.’S GRIEVANCE.
To the Editor, Sir.-I do not wish to be a fault-finder but really as a Justice of the Peace I must’ through your columns, bitterly complain of the unsatisfactory accommodation provided for the Justices’ Court. Yesterday. aBBO mated with Mr Ward we had to adjudicate m the Resident Magistrate’s Court from 10 30 until U a.m., after w ich we had to to give way tq Mr Bathgate. The hw'wl was not half disposed of at this juncture, a?d our only alternative was to occupy Mr Bathgate s private room to hear the remaining cases. Considering that at one period of our h'story we had a Mayor’s Court, I wish to ask through your paper, why that Court was abolished, as from surrounding circumstances it is quite evident to me the sooner such a Court is re-established the sooner will there be satisfaction on all sides ?—I am, 4c , n \ , Thomas Birch. Dunedin, December 23.
