THE BLACK AND RED GAME.
To the Editor. Sir,— ln your report of the case Bell v. Pirie, heard at the Magistrate’s Court yes* terday, Mr Turtoa, the plaintiff’s solicitor, is reported as having said the defendant suggested that the case should be settled by fighting the birds. - If such remarks were made, I beg to give the same a most unqualified contradiction. The suggestion emanated from the plaintiff’s side, and was most distinctly objected to by the defendant, who stated that, bad he felt disposed to adopt the suggestion, it was not within his power to do so, and referred the individual to Mr M‘Donnell, the owner ci the bird that claims to be entitled to the prize in dispute By inserting the above you will greatly oblige ' J One of the Committee. Dunedin, November 27.
