Wellington, November ID. The Court of Appeal was occupied all day with the case Burns v. Otago and Southland Investment Company. Mr Cook’s opening wgunient occupied the whole day. November 20. Reynolds has charge of the Administration of Naval Training Schools Act. In consequence of the rapidly increassing trade upon the Foxton tramway a deputation waited upon the Commissioner of Public Works, representing the necessity of converting the tramway into a railway as speedily as possible, and of placing two or three locomotives pn it. It is understood that Mr Richardson agreed to do so. Sent 1.30 p.m. Received 4.30 p.m. In the Court of Appeal, in the case of G-il-bert Burns v. the Otago and Southland Investment Company, on Mr Smith resuming his argument this morning the Bench stopped him, as they did not consider it necessary to hear any further argument on his side. Judgment was then given for the respondents. Mr Cook applied for leave to go to the Privy Council, but the Court reseived any expression of opinion on the matter until Monday morning.
