The Dunedin Naval Brigade fired forchoice of representatives a* the Amies son's Bay range this morning ; Sub-Dieut. Douglas, of No. 1 Company, being in charge. Only three men took part in the tiring, and the scoring was very poor, only one succeeding in scoring seventy points. r lhe ranges throughout the matches for choice of district representatives are 200. 40D. 500, and 000 yards ; seven shots at each. Major Atkinson held an ins ection of the Waikouaiti Volunteers on Wednesday even ing, when there were present—-Capt. Orbell two lieutenants, three sergeants, one bugler, and sixteen men. The men were put through the various manual and platoon exorcises, the drill lasting for an hour and a-balf. and showed great improvement in Loth, branches since last inspection. This is owing to a staff sergeant being resident with them during the past month Commissions were presented after parade to Capt. Orbell and Lieut. Dasent.
