Mr Skene reports that during the week there has been a very large demand for useful servants of all kinds, and there is every appearance of the supply being short of the demand. Messrs Brown and Sons report:—Wheat : Good milling wanted at 4s 9d to ss; second quality, 4s 3d to 4s Bd. Oats scarce at 5s to 5s 3d for feed, and from 5s 3d to 5s 6d for good milling. Barley: Few really good sampler, offering suitable for malting or grinding ; feed wanted at from 4s to 4s 4d. Flour may now he quoted at Ll2 in sacks, Ll2 10s in bags. Bran and pollard at former quotations, viz., L 5 10s and L 6 19s respectively.
