The amount of re'e me received at the Cun tom-house or. cleared for consumption this day was L2,0113s Id. The following is Mr A. Mercer’s report (retail prices only) for the week ending October 30 -Fresh butter, in and 11b prints (best quality). Is 6d to Is 8d per lb ; second quality, Is 6d per lb ; fresh butter, in lumps, Is 4d to Is 6d per lb. Prime salt butter (new season) Is 6d per lb. The supply of fresh butter is now very plentiful, and a further reduction in the price has taken place. Many of the grocers are now salting down large quantities. Salt butter in kegs (new season), Is 5d per lb. Cheese of best quality is scarce ; and the best quality lOd to Is per "lb. Side and rolled bacon is also scarce, and retailing at 1s per lb ; Colonial hams, Is 2d to Is 3d per lb ; English hams, Is 4d to Is 6d per lb ; beef haras, 9d per lb. Eggs, although very plentiful, are in good demand, and retailing at Is 6d per dozen.
