The barque Splendid, which has been fitted up for whaling purposes, commenced to unmoor this morning, arid will sail this evening on her first cruise. We wish her every success, as her enterprising owners have spared no expense in fitting the vessel with everything requisite for whaling. She is expected to return to Port iri about six months. The barque which arrived at the Heads yesterday* and was supposed to he the Rachael, Sed to be the du Village from Newe. ' The tug Geelong proceeded down and towed her up as far as the Kaik, where, on account of a fresh wind and ebb tide, she came to anchor for the night. The tug proceeded down again this morning, and towed her up to her anchorage off the old jetty. The Coq du Village is a French-built barque of 312 tons , register, purchased about six months ago by Mr Reid, of Newcastle, and has proved herself a fast sailer, having, during that time, made a voyage to Melbourne, Adelaide, New Caledonia; and back to Newcastle, where she lay nearly a month. She has made the pa -sage d©Wn from Newcastle in nine days, having left there on the 15th instant. For twelve hours after leaving she had N.W. winds, which •hiftedto the S.E., until noon next day, when they shifted to the eastward, and continued bigh. until the 20th ; the wind then came from the S. W., with heavy showers of rain, which crintinued until reaching the Solander, which Was passed at daylight on the 22nd ; had strong westerly winds, with heavy squalls; passed Dog Island at 7.40 p.m., and sighted the Heads 4 a.m. yesterday. She brings 450 tons of MiaL ;
