THE ANGLICAN SYNOD.
The business transacted at yesterday’s sitting was of little interest te the public. The.adjourned debate on the Theological College ( ouncil was resumed ; the point for consideration was who should constitute the Council ? Archdeacon Edwards proposed that it should consist of the Bishop, the Chancellor, Archdeacon Edwards, Rev. Mr Penny, Messrs Cook, Quick, Percy, Neill, and Wayne. The Rev. Mr Stanford moved as an amendment that it was not expedient at present to nominate any gentlemen to act upon the College Council, because the time h%d npt yet arrived whpn the heeds'of the diocese require a Council, bpt the President declined to allow it to be put, because it did not agree 'with the previously framed resolution that a Council should be appointed. It was then proposed that the Conned of * the College, with the addition of the Rev. E. D. Penny, should be the Diocesan Board* for considering the general fitness of candidates for the ministry, and also a Council of Education for the diocese. The first part of the resolution was carried, but on the second payt the bynod divided as follows Olercv Ayes, 6 } Noes, fi. Laiety, Ayes, § ; Noes,’ (lived second part was, therefore, npga T • r ,^ N * >BRSQN>B motion affirming the desirability, “ whenever two or more services are used in conjunction in the celebration of . . ffors hip, of the minister or person officiating, so far as the Lord’s prayrx, the prayer for the Queen, the Royal Family and dignitaries, and the creeds are concerned not being required to repeat such portions as were similar or analogous to others contained in, and intended to he used by him in anv other service,” was withdrawn.
