The s.r, Maori sails this evening for Oamaru. The 8.8. Maori arrived at midnight from Oamaru. The barque Woodville sailed yesterday for Newcastle. The schooner Zior came down from Dunedin, and anchored in Carey’s Bay. The coasters Crest of the Wave and Cambria. for Oamaru, sailed yesterday. The s.s. Phoebe took her departure from, the railway pier at noon for the Northern ports. The ship Main Bahn, for San Francisco, was towed to sea by thep.s. Samson yesterday afternoon.
The ship Hadden plall was removed to the railway pier yesterday afternoon by the p.s. Samson and Golden Age. The regular Gatlin’s River traders Huon Belle, Isabella, and Jane Hannah arrived this morning with full cargoes of timber. They all left there yesterday, and had strong S.W. Winds to arrival.
The 8.8. Bruce came clown from Dunedin, and took on board transhipments from the ships Bunker Hill and I’arsee, and will sail this evening for Lyttelton, via intermediate ports. The s.B. Lady of the Lake, which left the Port on "Wednesday night, put back to the Heads on account of the S. W. wind and heavy sea. She towed up the barque Haclda last night and then again proceeded on her passage to the Molyneux. The fol 7 *wing vessels laden with timber were lying wind-bound at Gatlin’s river on Tuesday lastLloyd’s Herald, Jane Hannah, Isabella, Fanny, Huon Belle, and Janet Ramsay. Another vessel laden ■with posts and rails for Oamaru, was also waiting for a fair wind and a calm sea.
It was expected that the s.s. Wellington would be ready to come out of the Graving Dock on Saturday, when the Easby would go in ; but in addition to being cleaned and repainted, the Wellington will have a new shaft shipped, so that she will occupy the dock for a week, This morning Mr Mills, the diver, went down and examined the whole length of the Easby’s bottom ; but the result will not he known until Mr Mills writes out his report in Dunedin.
The barque Had da arrived at the Heads at 5 p.m. yesterday from Newcastle, and was towed up to her anchorage at 11 p.m. by the s.s Lady of the Laker She left .Newcastle on the sth inst. with a light S.W. wind, which continued until the 7th, when it increased to a gale with heavy squalls which lasted for four days, and during which time she was hove-to for fortyeight hours. A heavy sea struck her, carrying away two of her stanchions and doing other damage. She passed the Solanders at 6 p.m. on the 24t-h, and the Nuggets at -10 a,m. yesterday. SHIPPING TELEGRAMS. Hokitika, September 24.—The Tararua arrived at the outer anchorage at 430 p.m. She sails for Wellington at 7 a.m. to-morrow. The Hokitika and Grey rivers were both rough and impracticable. The Tararua met the Otago near the Sand-spit, and transhipped the West Coast passengers and mails. She brings 150 tons of cargo for Nelson, 200 tons for Wellington, ten tons for Lyttelton, and ten tons for Dunedin. Newcastle, September 15.—Arrived, Garrick Castle, from Dunedin.
