DUST CARTS.
To the Editor. Slß,—l was very much surprised to read a letter in last night’s issue purporting to come from “ A Ratepayer” living in Cumberland street, complaining of the way of my men collecting the dust from ash boxes, 4c. I thiols it would have been far better for the s«d ratepayer, instead of rushing into print, to have either, communicated with me or to have reported the matter to the City Council, and the grievance would then have been remedied. But, in answer to the letter, I would respectfully inform the writer that the dust carts go through Cumberland street twice a week, so that the boxes must have been placed on the footpath after the cart had gone past. But, to prevent any further trouble to the “Ratepayer,” I would inform him that on Mondays and Thursdays the carls go from Stewart street to Frederick street, and also on Tuesdays and Fridays from Frederick street to the Leith, passing through Cumberland street,—l am, &c., ‘ f> If* G. Harris. _ " Ooriiractor, Dunedin, September 23.
