THE HEIGHT OF THEIR OFFENDING.
To the Editor. Sir,—-As I cannot add a cubit to my stature, I have recourse to the columns of your paper to abolish a tali nuisance that is getting to a great head in our places of worship and amusement. I take pleasure on. the Sunday morning in attending St. Paul’s, our tasnionable church, and am always particular m getting a look at the officiating gentleman. when there is a chance of doing so. In this I am continually foiled, my vision being interrupted by sundry .a 1 hats, mostly ot the Alpine order, I believe, pyramidically built up with artificial creepers and flowers not forgetting feathers; and I occasionally twig foreign hair and stuffed birds introduced. VV hen I attend a theatre, the same towering chaotic mass is before me, and I am often on the point of exclaiming, “ Hats off. can’t you.” Really, Mr Editor, some, thing should be done with this hat-ablo fashion. Our ladies surely have not gone so much by the head that they cannot be induced to abate the annoyance complained of which has really reached its climax ? I fear this letter will do little beyond 'drawing attention to my solicitations. Moral—Once am 6 &o Woman her he “ d ' you cau’t—l Dunedin, September 18. k ' T ° P ** ER ’
