RESIDENT MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
Friday, September 4. (Before E. ff. Ward, Esq., and K. Ramsay. Esq., J.P.’s) Drunkenness.— Victor Ponsonby, Daniel Mars, and .Jamus -Smart for this offence were lined sa, with the option of twenty-four hou s’ imprisonment; Helen O’Leary, 10s or forty eight hours’ : John Russell, 4Us, or three .-ays’; Mary Thompson, 20s, with a like alternative. A fuither charge of vagrancy agtinst the last name 1 piisouer was withdrawn at the suggestion of the Bench. Bf-EAOH OF THE Peace —John Brown, for conducting himself in Rattray street in a manner calculated to provoke a breach of the peace, was fined 20s, with the option of forty-eight hours’ imprisonment. James Lorimer was mulcted in a like amount for a similar offence. CIVIL CASE. (Before J. Bathgate, Esq., R.M.) James Simpson v, Alex. Muir. —Claim Ll6 6s, for moneys due.—Judgment was given by default for the amount claimed, together with costs. (The whole of the defended cases were adjourned to allow the business of the District Court to be proceed with.)
