OUR CATTLE YARDS.

To the Editor. sik,—-Seeing that the Superintendent has sanctioned the removal of the sale-yards at Roslyn to some other spot, I would suggest that he cause public slaughter-yards to be built also, which would be the means of putting a stop to a great deal of wild cattle traffic oh the public roads, and the lives of women and children would be out of danger. I think that if public slaugbter-yarda were built along with the sale-yards, they would be well supported by the smaller butchers who cannot afford to keep a private yard of their own. This could be made to pay the Government handsomely by making a charge of so much on every head of cattle slaughtered there —I am, &c., . Observer. Dunedin, August 15.
