Mr Skene reports that the labor market is very active at present. Wages : Shepherds from L 55 to L6O ; married do, L7O, L 75, and L 8 0; ploughmen the same ; females, L 26, L3O, and L 3 5; if experienced, HO to L 5 2; gardeners, L 65 by the year, 30s by the week; masons, carpenters, and bricklayers, 12s to 14s per day ; horse shoers, 50s per week and found; railway men are freely asked for.
