WASTE LAND BOARD.
The weekly meeting of the Board was held to-day ; present—The Chief Commissioner, Messrs Butterworth and Clark.
Mr Gillies, for Mr Wm. Young, applied for a license to occupy, under clause 169, section 27, block 1, Warepa. Refused. Mr Robert McClelland applied to have an error corrected in a receipt for land granted him. Ihe auctioneer to ask the parties to return their receipts, and an amended account sales then to be furnished.
Mr Driver, for Messrs Begg, Shedden, and Co , applied for a lease of sections 4 and 5, block 2, bouth Molyneux. Referred to the Ranger. Mr G. hj. Reid, for Mr B. Man, applied to purchase a piece ef laud at Balclutha, between the bridge and Doull’s jetty. Re fused.
The District Land Officer reported on the application of John Kccles to purchase a quarter of an acre in Naseby, that it be deferred pending the completion of the public works there. Approved. The District Laud officer's report was read on the application of Mr James Taunahill to purchase fifty acres near his hotel, Upper Taieri (Styx). Mr John Richardson asked on what terms he would be allowed to sell coal found in his mining claim at Waitahuna. a letter was read from Messrs Richardson and party to the effect that they had not given Mr G. F, Browne, permission to enter their claim to mine for coal. On the usual terms, as far as their claim extends.
Mr W. H. Roberts requested to be allowed to have either half an acre at Waipahee village reserve surveyed at his cost and sold, or that the surveyor now in the district lay off a few quarter-acre sections for sale. The latter was recommended to the Government.
A petition against the sale of section 41, block 1, Maungatua, a bush reserve, was read, with a report from Ranger Yalpy on the subject. The Banger was directed not to allow timber to be cut without a license, as the bush is to be reserved.
The following applications to exchange agricultural leases were approved :—W. G. Anderson, section 47, block 5, Tuapeka East; Thomas Mee, sections 36 and 37. block 2, Blackstone ; William Adams, sections 7, 8, and 9, block 3, Leaning Rock, and section 3. block 2, do.; D. Crowley, section 19, block 4, Tuapeka East ; T. Crowley, section 9, block' 4, do.; and R. Ross, section 23, block 4, do. Johanna Lewis’s application lor section 18. block 14 Tuapeka East, was referred back to the Government, the documents seeming to have escaped their attention.
The following applications to purchase agricultural freeholds were approved : feter Robertson, seution 201, block 2, Tuapeka East ; Hugh Bruce, section 33, block 5, Waitahuna East; Johu Ross, section 27, block 4, luapeka East; J. Robertson, sections 105 to 109, HI, 122, 124, and 125, block 2, do,; Cargill and Anderson, section I, block 7, Benger. The last parties’ app.ication for section 33, block 6, Teviot, was refused.
