Cabdrona. —About two miles below the township, or between Boundary and Branch Creeks, a new claim is beiug opened by C. Austin and party. V'hould they succeed in striking payable gold it would be the means of opening up a large extent of auriferous ground. At Branch Creek, the washing up of the sluicing claims turned out very satisiap-. ory, barquhar and party’s cake weighing over 300> as —the result of six months’ washing. in fact, one hears very little grumbling in tiiis place about hard ties. Everybody seem pretty comfortable, and never without a few boo ”to spend.—‘Cromwell .‘rgus.’

Wai phi. —The Blue Duck claim continues to show excellent prospects. Two old men iu this claim obtained of gold for two day’s work. In another claim 13dwts 7grs was obtained as the result of one day’s cradling. Good prospects continue to be had iu Simpson and party’s and other claims in the line of the sludge channel. Messrs Budson aud party, of Waipori, have sold their water-race to the Waipori Quartz Mining Co. for the sum of L 1,600. They have also accepted the contract for cutting the race up to the reef, a distance of ten miles, the work to be completed within four months, under a penalty of LSO a-month for non-completion. —‘ Tuapeka Times,’
