A CORRECTION.

Tt, the Jtdii«r. Sir, —I obserre from a perusal of Mr Ramsay's remarks of last evening, as reported by the • Guardian,' that gentleman stated, in connection with the gas question, that "Mr Fish and other numbers of the Council eaterod into a combination to erect new gas works." Will you afford me space to flatly contradict that statement. The only combination I and other member* of the Council entered into was to secure a cheap gas for the citzens, in which we succeeded without the assistance of Mr Ramsay. A greater regard for strict truth will I think enhance Mr Ramsay's chanceß of success on the present occasion.—l am, Ac, ,. H. S. Fish, Juk. Dunedin, July 16.
