ROWING MATCH.

The boat-race between the employes of Messrs Ifergusson and Mitchell and the ‘ Guardian ’ Company took place this afternoon. A. considerable number of persons assembled, and the race attracted a large amount of interest, a number of bets having been made on the result, Fergusson’s crew got away with a slight lead, which they gradually increased, and won by nearly half-a-mile, the ‘.Guardian’crew having brought up before they had gone half the distance. The winning crew pulled well right through and were heartily cheered on coming in. The distance was about two-and-a-half miles* time, seventeen minutes. . ’
