STATE OF QUEEN STREET.

To the Editor. Sir, lam not aware if the Corporation has m its employ an inspector of roads, xu "he so-called gravelling of the footpaths m Queen street and Heriot Row is simply disgraceful; it is not gravel, but large round stones, quite unfit for cattle to walk upon, let alone pedestrians, I also wish to draw the inspector’s (if any) attention to Pitt street, it having a spring of water m the centre ; and would suggest a small channel te carry it to one side. If one or the other of the Leith Ward members were jiving in the locality referred to, we would have better paths to walk upon, and less much to contend with.—l am, Ac., r* j- , A i^XEPAYER. Dunedin, April 27.
