IMPRISONMENT FOR DEBT.

jl v w«i j uusivin . SIR, —Seeing a letter in last night’s Star on that ppor object of pity “Louis Stead” (now in Dunedin gaol for debt), 1 beg to inform “ A Worker” that I shall be most happy to assist in rescuing a fellow creature from (what I am afraid, will be) his tomb, if some action is not taken on his behalf by the public. Knowing the people of Dunedin are ever willing to assist in any case of real fhiseyy pr oppression, I am sure a fund would soon be raised for such a purpose if it was known who were receiving contributions. 1 may state that several friends of mine are ready to forward their donations if “A Worker ” will forward bis address to J. Jackson, Opposite Caledonia Hotel, •n j • . Grea t King street. Dunedin, April 25.
