CITY RATES.
Tojthe Editor. Sib,—The Corporation rates for this year on the tenement I at present occupy amounts to LI 17s 6d. For the same property the Water Company’s rate is L 3 3s. I don’t, suppose for one moment Sthat I am the only unfortunate in Dunedin who is unfairly rated, as 1 am led to believe there are many others who could a similar “tale unfold.” Looking at the above statement in a fair and reasonable manner, does it require any argument to show (even to shareholders themselves) that the present Company is taking every advantage of its monopoly ? I think net. It is to be sincerely hoped that some definite action will be taken, as the result of the ensuing public meeting, to place the water supply of this City in the hands of the citizens. I enclose my card.—l am, &c., ~ Ratepayer. Dunedin, April 22.
