LIGHT RAILWAYS.
The successful tenderer for the construction of the light railway up the valley of the Waireka is Mr W. D. Morrison, of Lawrence ; the contract price being L 45.000. Mr David Proudfoot is the successful tenderer for the railways in the western district, at the following figures :—Riverton to Otauta'i, L 28.397 9s; Riverton to Orepuki, L 37,104 2s; Riverton to Invercargill and Winton Line, at Makerewa bridge, L 32,080 Bs.
