CRICKETERS AND EIGHTEEN OP VICTORIA. ™ e . match between Mr Qrace’a team and Eighteen Victorian cricketers was begun i on the 12th mat. on the Melbourne cricket ground. The ground was dead after the recent rams. The attendance was small at brst, but gradually increased towards the afternoon. Hu Excellency the Governor was present. Great interest was taken in the game. Conway , the captain of the Victorian eighteen, won the toss, and elected • take first innings. He sent Goldsmith and Campbell to the wickets: Grace put on Lilly white and Southertoh to the bowling. Ithe observed that. the composition of Jno Eighteen differed materially from the team that first coped with the - Englishmen; : f oa , teß ’ ,^ a Uy. Qaggin, Wyndham, and Robertson being conspicuous by their absence. The new players are CampbellT mlkte, Elliot, Newing, Alexander, and Murphy.
